Wood Boring Insects

The Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium Punctatum)

This beetle is found in buildings throughout the UK, especially in rural areas.  It prefers to infest softwood, and is mainly found in floorboards, however hardwoods are not immune. A comprehensive inspection of timbers in and around the area in which it is found is essential, as structural damage is a real possibility.

The Wood Boring Weevil (Pentarthrum Huttoni)

Although this beetle does not require any chemical treatment it can cause widespread considerable damage, the wood boring weevil is probably the most common wood boring insect found in the UK, it’s most often found in floorboards and floor joists, where ventilation is poor and or where timber is in contact with damp walls.
